Meet Ruby the Mushroom Fairy. Ruby was brought up in the fairy village with Kiki when they were younger but moved away with all the other villagers. Born from a special type of toadstool, all mushroom fairies are born with the natural talent for cooking.  This is very true for Ruby and this love of cooking has helped to shape all of Ruby’s decisions in life.  When she left the village, she dedicated her days to travelling to learn new recipes from different creatures in and around the Emerald Forest. Years of camping whilst travelling has made Ruby a big fan of camping, and even after being invited to stay in Kiki Lane, she is always excited to take some villagers or visitors to camp for the night nearby so they can experience a night under the stars.

Ruby is a very cheerful little fairy, especially when cooking, and this makes her very approachable. She is always very pleased to meet new friends as it gives her the opportunity to share the food she cooks. In addition, this little red  fairy is very accommodating, and whenever someone is nearby and hungry she will always invite them to share. When working as the cook in the inn, she is very happy to change the recipe if someone has special food requirements as she always wants people to be able to enjoy what she has made. Ruby is also very happy to teach others how to cook and it was her expertise and teaching that allowed Mishka to open up his own bakery stall.

Most of the time, as the inn’s cook, Ruby can be found in her kitchen humming a tune as she prepares for the next meal of the day. Even when everyone meets in the evening at the inn, she is always in the kitchen, in her element and very happy as she is not a big fan of large crowds. However, if by the end of the evening, if she finds there is still food leftover, she will make her way into the crowds to offer more food to anyone who wants it as she is not a fan of food being left over. Everyone who tastes her cooking will testify that it is delicious. Some will even go as far as to say its the best food they have ever tasted. Ruby, however, is very modest about her talent and describes herself as only being quite good and still needing practice.
