Profile

Say hello to Kemuri, our little grey cat here in Kiki Lane. Meaning smoke in Japanese, her lovely name fits her beautifully. She was one of the first residents who was given a place to stay by Kiki after the dragons moved into the Great Tree Library. Kemuri was found sleeping on the doorstep of an empty house by Kiki and Ruby one afternoon. After realising how tired the little cat was, Ruby introduced Kemuri to coffee, hoping it would help with the tiredness and it did, leading to a great friendship between them both, bonding over hot drinks.

Coffee was not a very well known drink in the Emerald Forest when Kemuri first tasted it and she fell in love with it very quickly. Wanting to share it with the forest residents, she decided to open up a coffee cart to share her new-found passion. Kemuri really enjoys making new friends and you can be sure that she will greet you with a lovely smile and a cheerful hello if you visit her cart. Our supportive cat often gets people visit her coffee cart to have a chat with her before they grab a drink to go as even when she is busy, she can always find time for everyone, no matter what they need. If she deems the situation not too serious, within her response, you can always expect a witty comment which brings a smile to everyone’s face, making her cart very popular.

Once the coffee has worn off for the day, Kemuri enjoys her second favourite thing, sleeping. At these times you can find her curled up on her favourite armchair or in the comfort of her bed with soft blankets snuggled by her. In the summer, when its too hot to be inside, you can find her curled up under the shade of a tree or on her favourite spot on her doorstep, enjoying the sun’s rays. However, one thing you shouldn’t do is wake her up - she really doesn’t like it and her jolly demeanour wont be there when she wakes until she gets her coffee. Ruby and Kiki witnessed first hand what it is like to wake Kemuri from her slumber and they can both attest that it isn’t a good idea!  Another thing she dislikes is lightning as it stops her from getting to sleep and makes her a little on edge. At these times, if she can, she will make her way to the comfort of her friends and the quieter, darkened rooms in the Great Tree Library.
