Meet Alula,  one of the dragons who now call the Great Tree Library home. When Kiki first met Alula, her colourful spikes reminded Kiki of gems. This, paired with Alula’s love of gemstones and all shiny things, led to her being known as the Gem Dragon.

Although she is smaller than some of the others, don’t be fooled by her size as Alula is very wise. It was ultimately her guidance that made the dragons accept the offer from the fairy Kiki to take up residence in the Library. Being inquisitive, it is her love of books and learning that has helped her to be so knowledgeable. The Library gives her an extensive range of topics to learn about so she loves living here.  Perhaps this is why she wanted to move in so much!

Alula is often found with her nose in a book but you often won’t find her reading on her own as she dislikes being alone. She is very outgoing and loves to have people around her with whom she can talk or have conversations in the background while she reads.  Alula often has people seek advice from her when they pass her by, or simply ask for a new fact on their favourite topic which always pleases her greatly.

When night creeps in, Alula is often found heading back home, bringing Fumi with her. She doesn’t like the dark so tries to get home before its late. This dislike for the dark is why you will always find a light on in the Great Tree Library. Be it a light, the fireplace or candles, the visible glow through the windows brings great comfort to many and makes it a safe haven for anyone who is needing company at night.
